While exploring London Design Festival, we came across a stunning collection of out of proportion garments by Yuki Hagino. In summer 2013 the Japanese fashion designer graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design with a degree in BA Fashion with Knitwear. Several of her garments are currently on show at London College of Communication as part of Future Map, Design, a condensed version of the University of the Arts London’s annual exhibition of emerging design talent.
Titled Sculpting Mind, Hagino’s collection is yet another example of the desire for big and bold silhouettes with exaggerated proportions. We explore this in the Out of Proportion micro trend under Volume with other examples including London designers Sibling’s oversized knitwear and German textile artist Nadine Goepfret’s undulating memory foam tops.
